Cockermouth Fireworks Display

The annual Cockermouth Fireworks Display will take place on Sunday, 7th November, and it will be held at the Memorial Gardens, Wakefield Road, Cockermouth. Carlisle Fireshow at Bitts Park

This is a themed bonfire with a spectacular display of fireworks, set to music. Fairground and catering units are on site and admission is free,but donations are accepted for charity. Egremont Crab Fair

The Egremont Crab Fair was first established in 1267, and this is one of the oldest fairs in the world. Combining ancient traditional events with modern attractions for all the family, this unique event attracts thousands of visitors every year. The fair will take place on 18th September, 2010. Events being in the morning and carry on until late evening, and include: the apple cart parade, sports, entertainers and displays. Website: www.egremontcrabfair.com.

Westmorland Horticultural Show

The show will take place in Kendal, and over 1,000 flower, fruit and vegetable exhibits will be on show, plus a range of home-made wine, floral art and children´s flower classes. Entry price is just £1 per person and free entry for children under 12. The show will be held on Tuesday 14th September from 2pm to 6.30pm and from 10am to 7.15pm on Wednesday 15th September. Kendal Mintfest 2010

You can enjoy a vast range of mind-boggling performances from all over the world at Kendal Mintfest 2010. The Lakeland market town bursts into life with incredible performances from the dramatic to the plain silly. The whole weekend provides fun for all the family, and this event is quickly becoming one of the best street arts festivals in the UK.

Keswick Agricultural Show

Due to take place at Keswick Show Ground, the agricultural show offers visitors the chance to find out more about the Lake District, plus enjoy the local scenery and landscapes of Keswick. Attractions and events include a sheepdog show, an art and craft marquee, a vintage machinery display and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling. Solfest 2010

Due to take place at Tarnside Farm, Solfest 2010 is a music and arts festival which will be situated on a Greenfield site in West Cumbria. Run as a not-for-profit event, Solfest attracts crowds from all over England. Prices are not yet confirmed, but they are expected to be around £90 per adult for the whole weekend. Ambleside Flower Show and Craft Fair

Due to take place at Ambleside Rugby Field, the annual flower show and craft fair is a traditional event with classes for flowers, fruit, vegetables, floral art, handicrafts and cookery. Plant, horticultural and craft stalls also make up the outdoor attractions. Adults entry price is £5 and children under 16 free when accompanied by an adult. Potfest in the Park

Potfest in the Park at Hutton in the Forest is an international ceramics festival with up to 100 potters and ceramics artists from all over the UK selling their wares. Entry price for adults is just £5 and accompanied children go free. The event will take place between Friday 30th July and Sunday, 1st August from 10am to 5pm. Coniston Country Fair

Coniston Country Fair is a traditional Cumbrian fair which takes place at Coniston Hall. The event is due to take place on Sunday, 18th July from 11.30am. With the spectacular backdrop of the Old Man of Coniston, this prime attraction attracts thousands of visitors every year. Activities and events include ferret racing, a craft marquee, a Herdwick Sheep Show, wrestling and children´s sports. There are also plenty of sideshows and a dog show, plus refreshments and a beer tent. Maryport Roman Festival

Due to be held at Senhouse Roman Museum, this festival will show how the Romans defended the coastline of Cumbria from their hill top fort. A host of activities will bring history to life, including: guided walks, tours of the fort, a programme of lectures and workshops, food tasting and children´s activities. Furness Tradition Festival

The Furness Tradition Festival takes place in the centre of Ulverston. On Friday evening a gathering event will include ceilidhs, crafts and dancing displays in the market place plus concerts and workshops.

The event will take place on Friday 9th July, 8pm to 11pm, Saturday, 10th July, 9.30am to 11pm and Sunday, 11th July, 10.30am to 3.30pm.

On the main festival day, music, crafts and dance displays will take place in the town centre, around the market cross and the Coronation Hall, and a number of pubs will hold informal sessions. Staveley Carnival Weekend

This three- day extravaganza includes arts, entertainment, workshops, live music, food and bar. A Brazilian-style procession will take place on Sunday 11th July, when a magical sea of colour winds its way through the streets of Staveley to the infectious rhythm of the carnival bands.

Fuel free, the procession includes bicycle-powered floats and carnival structures powered by people. Entry to this unique event is free and dates are Friday, 9th July, Saturday, 10th July and Sunday, 11th July. For more information contact Rosemary Thomas on 07702 256425.

Whitehaven Carnival

This lively carnival has floats, bands, dancing troupes, street entertainers, fancy dress and plenty of fun activities. There will also be a fairground and the crowning of the carnival queen. Antiques Road Show

The Antiques Road Show is due to take place at Hutton in the Forest Country House and the BBC programme will be filming its 33rd series from this location. The event will take place at Hutton-in-the-Forest near Penrith on Thursday, 1st July, 2010, and the doors will be open from 09.30am to 4.30pm. Entry is free and some of the UK´s leading antiques experts will be on hand to give advice and valuations to visitors.

Vintage Vehicle and Machinery Rally

Due to be held at Hayes Castle Farm, this event offers a range of stalls, cars, motorbikes, steam engines, commercial vehicles, an owner´s club, a fairground and much more. Prices for entry are £5 for adults, £3 for senior citizens and children over 5, and a family pass for £12.

The Appleby Horse Fair

This traditional horse fair is an informal gathering of gypsies and travellers, where visitors can see the horses being raced down streets and washed in the river. Stalls selling food, local produce and everything ´horsey´ can be found throughout the fair.

Ireby Music Festival

The Ireby Music Festival takes place at different venues throughout the village of Ireby, including a 500-seater heated, main stage marquee. Performers will include: Kate Rusby, Luka Bloom, Po´Girl, Southern Tenant Folk Union, London Philharmonic Skiffle Orchestra and many more.

Keswick Mountain Festival at Crow Park

Enjoy a wide range of activities at this festival, including outdoor activities, sporting competitions and plenty of stalls and sideshows. On the shores of Derwentwater you will find adventure base with facilities for biking, hiking and triathlon. Entry is free, although admission charges apply to lectures and activities.

Pirate Charity Day at Watermill Inn and Brewery

Events take place in the field beside the water mill, and family fun includes Collie Wobbling Championship, Regatta on Land, Bouncy castles, jugglers and entertainers. Visitors to the charity day can also enjoy live music, local craft stalls and a mountain bike challenge, plus plenty of other events. Music and Beer Festival Dentdale

After a hugely successful event in 2009, Dentdale Music and Beer Festival 2010 promises to be an even bigger hit. Over 25 artists and bands are due to perform, and will alternate between two stages. The event takes place on the weekend of 25th, 26th and 27th June, and entry is free.

Over 25 cask beers have been selected to be served at the event, which takes place in Dent Public Car Park, and a selection of delicious deli food will also be available. For more information check out www.discoverdentdale.co.uk

Windermere Air Show 2010

One of the most spectacular show of its kind in the UK, Windermere Air Show attracts visitors from all over the country. The event in 2010 takes place on 24th and 25th July, and it´s 10th anniversary coincides with the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, so an incredible show is expected.

Main events include displays by the Red Arrows, Aerostars Acrobatics team, Breitling wing walkers, Twister duo, a Sea King helicopter display and the RAF Falcons parachute team. There will also be a fly-past for the anniversary of the Battle of Britain on both days.

To make the show a fun day for all the family, there will be ground events too, including a fun fair, a flight simulator, an exhibition of military vehicles, a falconry display, sheepdog demonstrations, and a marquee selling home made cakes, sandwiches and a whole range of produce and bric-a-brac.

All activities will take place at the Glebe Entertainment Area, close to Windermere at Bowness. Entrance is £10, and all the money goes to charitable causes. The Glebe is also the best spot to view the air display. The event raises money for local charities and is organised by the Rotary Club. For more information see www.windermereairshow.co.uk

Holker Flower Festival 2010

Held over three days, the Holker Flower Festival 2010 will take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of June. Due to be held in the grounds of Holker Hall, this wonderful show celebrates the very best of horticulture in the Lake District.

Show gardens, displays, exhibitions and demonstrations will take place throughout the weekend, and Carol Klein from Gardener´s World will be attending as a special guest on Saturday, 5th June. The show will be open all three days from 10am to 5.30pm.

Attractions include sheepdog displays, stilt-walkers, medieval jousting and a wide range of side shows to keep the whole family entertained. Food stalls will be serving local Cumbrian delicacies, including organic meats from the Holker Estate and a wide choice of food and drinks.

The Cumberland County Show 2010

The Cumberland County Show takes place at Carlisle Racecourse, and attracts thousands of visitors every year. Typical Cumbrian traditions are represented, along with large displays of cattle and agricultural machinery.

This is a great day out for all the family, as attractions include Cumbrian cooking displays, stunt drivers, a sheepdog display, a falconry show and an exhibition of motocross.

Cumberland County Show 2010

This is a classic lake district event set at Carlisle racecourse where traditions and agriculture rule the show. There is a large display of cattle with around 450 animals expected to this years’ event. This is a celebration of farming food with cookery displays alongside displays one of which being a Mini stunt driver, a sheepdog display, falconry show and a Honda’s motocross display team will all be present at this years’ event held on Saturday the 17th July 2010.
